Sons of Anarchy spinoff to star Edward James Olmos

The project, which has got a pilot order from FX, has cast its first actor, Edward James Olmos, whose notable roles include that in 1988's "Stand and Deliver".

Per Deadline, James Olmos has come on board to play the part of Felipe Reyes, a former Mexican patriarch who is now a shadow of his former self.

We've been eagerly awaiting news about the Sons of Anarchy spin-off show Mayans MC, and finally the silence has been broken. Until then, catch Olmos on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The cast for the "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff "Mayans MC" continues to grow... Sutter and James executive produce together.

The acclaimed biker drama ended its seven-season run in 2014 and now creator Kurt Sutter is preparing to return to the world of motorcycle gangs for a show set in Oakland, California.

Mayans MC is set post-Sons of Anarchy and centers on EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves.

So far FX has only ordered a pilot of the show, meaning Mayans MC still has a long way to go before it makes its way to our screens in a weekly serialized format.
