Christians celebrate Easter across conflict-torn Mideast

Churches throughout Ashtabula County celebrated Easter on Sunday.

"Easter is the time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but it's more than that", he said.

Christians across the globe have come together to celebrate Easter.

However, Reverend Rogers assured the packed church that Mary Magdalene, who is mentioned in all four gospels as a witness of the crucifixion and empty tomb, is a true example that "we can confront the empty tomb, seek and experience the risen Christ in our lives".

One can argue that this day, Easter Sunday, represents a day that is in many ways far more important and far-reaching than a day that had them gathered in the church pews only a few months ago - that being Christmas Day.

"We should love ourselves as a nation and know that we are all one and equal before God".

She says their musical talents come from God.

Bell said Easter means a lot of things to a lot of people. Worshippers lined up to admire the edicule, the chamber that tradition says marks Jesus' tomb.

He said: "As the resurrection morning brought a day of joy and laughter back to the disciples, the future years shall be full of abundance in Nigeria and bring back our joy and celebration in our streets in the name of Jesus". Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away". Many of his followers reported seeing Jesus before his ascension to heaven to be with his Father. Those women who were at the cross kept watch, hoping for a miracle not realizing the resurrection of Christ would be the greatest miracle ever for the whole human race.

"We'll be celebrating the love of God that is expressed through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and his resurrection and how this is shared with all of humanity as a gift from God".

Easter Sunday is a good day to reflect on the words of Saint John Paul II and remember that the Son of God overcame death so that we may be saved through faith in Him.

I can hardly believe it's Easter again.

"I come every week, but Easter is special because of the resurrection", he said.

Easter is a celebration of that revelation: that Jesus defied death forever and gives eternal life and a new beginning to anyone who calls on His name and believes in Him.
