Orlando City soccer player Cyle Larin arrested for DUI

Orlando City SC forward Cyle Larin was arrested early this morning for driving under the influence after driving on the wrong side of the road in Orlando.

Larin was stopped by Florida Highway Patrol for driving the wrong way in Orlando and almost causing a head-on collision, about three miles from Orlando City's stadium.

When asked by the trooper how much he had to drink before getting behind the wheel, Larin told him he "didn't have anything". He will undergo an assessment by MLS' Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health ("SABH") Program doctors pursuant to the SABH Policy.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrest report said Larin's Cadillac just missed hitting a Mercedes travelling in the proper lane.

"We are working with local authorities, Major League Soccer and Cyle to take appropriate action in line with league protocol", the club said.

The arrest came after Larin was rested for Orlando's 3-1 home loss to Miami FC in the U.S. Open Cup fourth round Wednesday. "His pupils were extremely dilated as well".

Larin had difficulty taking part in a field sobriety test, according to the arrest report. There was an obvious odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle.

Investigators said the man told the trooper he is from Toronto, Canada, but has lived in Orlando for three years.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said Larin was co-operative and "respectful" throughout.

Larin immediately delivered for the Lions, scoring 17 goals in their inaugural MLS season on his way to being named 2015 Rookie of the Year. Larin was out of the lineup to rest for the upcoming weekend MLS game against Montreal.
