Roma expect big for Salah

Although the Egyptian has made his intentions clear, the Reds will have to step up their efforts to secure his signature, as so far they have failed to meet Roma's €40m price tag.

The Reds have identified winger Salah as fitting their criteria for a young, fast forward, and are thought to have already agreed a £90,000-a-week wage with the player.

Liverpool have been in talks with the Serie A side for several weeks over the Egypt worldwide after having an opening bid of £28 million rejected.

Jurgen Klopp wants Roma winger Salah and the two clubs are now negotiating the fee. And that Salah only has Liverpool as a serious suitor.

"Liverpools style of play suits Salah perfectly and [Jurgen] Klopp's style suits him".

The Salah saga has been dragging for a few weeks, as Liverpool and Roma haggle over the transfer fee.

That would see the club's current transfer record, paid out for Andy Carroll in 2011, marginally surpassed and potentially increased by an inclusion of add-ons.

Egypt winger Salah has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield and a second crack at the Premier League after his spell at Chelsea fell flat.

"For Salah there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers", Monchi told reporters.

Monchi added: "We need to keep together the best possible squad".

His campaign ended with him registering 19 goals and 15 assists across 41 matches in all competitions with 15 of those strikes coming in the league alone.
