Amit Shah to meet 'opposing' ally Uddhav Thackeray

Buoyed by the BJP's success in Maharashtra local governing bodies' polls, held in the recent past, Fadnavis exuded confidence that people of the state were with the saffron party notwithstanding various agitations against the state.

The BJP chief, however, reportedly enjoys cordial relations with Thackeray.

The opposition has complained that the BJP has come without any names and the Congress said the government was seeking cooperation, not consensus.

Tomorrow, Shah would meet the core committee members of the state BJP unit. "CM (Devendra Fadnavis) had said that our party is ready for it (mid-term poll)".

"This is wrong... If this continues, it could prove damaging for the country's democracy", the Sena opined in an edit in the party mouthpieces "Saamana" and "Dopahar Ka Saamana" on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a farmer who was present at the event said they met the Sena president to thank him for his support to their stir.

Speaking to reporters here, after meeting farmers from across the state, including Puntamba village, Uddhav said, "I would like to thank the farmers".

As the war between Shiv Sena and BJP has intensified after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections this February, the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to make the most of the situation.

Thackeray is on a tour of rural Maharashtra and addressed mediapersons at Shegaon, Buldhana district. Shah also said that should there be mid-term polls in the state, the BJP will form the government on its own strength.

He added that the talk of mid-term polls is a ploy to divert attention and dilute the issue of farm loans waiver. We will be patient enough to wait and give the government time until July to implement its announcement. "I have already made it clear that any bilateral series with Pakistan is nearly impossible because there can not be sports relations between the two countries until there is terrorism from the Pakistani side", Goel has said last month in the national capital.
