As many as 1,000 yoga enthusiasts gathered in Hanoi on June 17 to celebrate the third International Yoga Day by flexing their bodies in various postures. "Yoga is a very good sport and is popular among Singaporeans all age groups", said Gan, pointing out that Yoga's popularity was growing here. Parts of the United States, Paris, Havana in Cuba, and Peru's capital Lima are also preparing to host yoga enthusiasts.

Dey recalled that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014, had urged the world community to adopt an International Yoga Day saying "yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition".

Though the BKU has asked the people to support the farmers agitation and avoid using highways during the protest period, it said that emergency services like Ambulances and Defence vehicles will not be stopped.

The journey connected thousands of minds, spreading the message of yoga for well-being, Sandhu said.

President of BKU, Lucknow division, Harinam Singh Verma said that the "Farmers Yoga" will be held between 5 am to 9 am blocking all the highways connecting Lucknow during that period.

China has planned to organise scores of events across the country, which officials say will make it the second biggest celebrations of the day in the world after India.

The International Yoga Day will commemorate its third anniversary ever since its inception on June 21, 2015.

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) has been working tirelessly to make the International Yoga Day functions across the country and world a grand success.

In Washington, hundreds of people gathered at the historic National Mall and performed asanas to mark the Yoga Day to be held on June 21. Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and Piyush Goyal will take part in International Yoga Day functions at Patna, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam respectively.
