The new iPad Pro - Worth the Upgrade?

Reports are mounting up on the internet claiming that Apple officially rolls out the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro variants as part of the tech giant's streamlining their product line. Here are the best 10.5-inch iPad Pro cases that you can buy to protect your new tablet.

This led to the device failing to penetrate the minds of many users and once it did, Apple was already parading the iPad Pro.

Both slates are set to start shipping this month so if you're torn between the two, here's a brief comparison touching on the main areas of concern. We'll also outline some of the best 10.5-inch iPad Pro keyboards that let you leverage the power of the new iPad to get work done. It is faster, with a brighter display and a higher refresh rate that makes motion look buttery smooth. Apple is also offering a $150 discount for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro model.

A select number of devices were chosen for Geekbench and GFXBench tests, namely the 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch models of the iPad Pro from 2016 as well as 2017 along with the 2016 and 2017 Macbook Pro models. The tablet has four stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB 3.0, NFC and a non-removable Li-Ion battery that is capable of running for as long as 10 hours. In fact the 13-inch MacBook Pro models were with top-of-the-line specifications with Intel core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and Intel graphics.

As for me, I must confess: I used the iPad Pro in research and outlining for this review.

From the teardown, iFixit learnt that the iPad Pro is designed elegantly, but hard to fix.

Apple has added, for the first time, a 10.5-inch size to the iPad lineup. There's an 8-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

Overall, if you have a first-generation iPad Pro and are happy with it, you may not find a compelling reason to upgrade to a new one.

The Apple Pencil for iPad Pro is sold separately for $99 and the Smart Keyboard is also sold separately for $159.

Also impressive is that the weight is nearly the same - the previous 9.7-incher was 0.96 pounds, the new 10-5-incher is 1.03 pounds. However, this lack of innovation and Apples' stubbornness for plainness could trigger a lack of excitement from the buyers of the Pro machines.

Software is also one of the most important factors that typically weigh in one's decision to purchase one product over another. The real changes to the iPad Pro will come with the release of iOS 11 in the autumn.

One new standout feature is that the iPads will have is the facility to dock, just like what is found on the desktop macOS along with a new app called Files that allows you to organise your files better.
