AJ Styles Comments on His US Title Win and Kevin Owens

AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens to become the new United States Champion at Madison Square Garden. So does this title change even count? What does this shocking turn of events mean for his and Owens' future? Since this title change was reported as a booking decision, there's a strong possibility that this match could be an angle that plays out on WWE programming. Another notable instance of a title changing hands at a house show was in 2008, when CM Punk and Kofi Kingston lost the World Tag Team Championship at a live event, being defeated by John Morrison and The Miz.

Echoing the words of SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon, Styles remarks that the show truly "is the land of opportunity, and sometimes that opportunity comes when people least expect it"- like at a RAW event.

After Owens lost the title, the former champion would take what many fans considered a disappointed move out of the ring after his defeat.

Following his loss at the Live Event in Madison Square Garden show, Owens' 2 championship reign ended at 66 days. He then leveled the champion with a Styles Clash that didn't secure the victory, but did fire up the Garden faithful.

AJ Styles and Kevin Owens were scheduled to face each other at the next pay-per-view, however, it's unclear if the match is still on now that the title has changed hands.
