Amazon Debuts Trailer For The Tick

The Tick is a comic character created by Ben Edlund in 1986, as a spoof of American comic book superheroes.

The comic was originally adapted into an animated series back in 1994 and then later in 2001 into a live-action sitcom starring Patrick Warburton as the titular hero. His performance in the pilot episode released a year ago was every bit as pompous and grandiose as Warburton's, if slightly different.

So it's not too worrying that the new trailer for The Tick doesn't feature anything you'd traditionally consider a joke. The series also stars Valorie Curry, Jackie Earle Haley, Yara Martinez, Brendan Hines, Scott Speiser, and Michael Cerveris. As Arthur works to uncover a conspiracy surrounding his city - and how it's run by a supervillain - he has to figure out if he should pick up the call to destiny. The show will debut with a two-part season on the streaming network starting with six episodes to be released August 25, and a final six to premiere in 2018.

The show definitely does not take itself too seriously, and I think that's going to be why a lot of Prime Video subscribers will like this series. As he struggles to uncover this conspiracy, he falls in league with a unusual blue superhero... The pilot will be directed by Wally Pfister.

In a world where super-crime is out of control, you'd think that anyone who dressed up as a enormous blue parasite to fight back against a new wave of villainy would be downright insane.
