Kesha is a 'motherf-king woman' in anthemic new song

Kesha has released the video for her second new single of her comeback, and this time she's rocking out in a drag bar. "OK, shut up", she commands before launching into the rollicking song. Kesha makes clear that the song is for men, too, and shares that she wrote the song with two men. They arrive at the Oddity Bar, and Kesha dances and sings amongst the gold streamers in her all gold outfit. The song is empowering, the chorus is super catchy, and the Dap-Kings Horns feature is a really cool instrumental element of the song.

Kesha explained in a personal and thoughtful essay that she wrote the song after taking hold of a newfound confidence during a recent tour, where she ditched the back-up dancers and on-stage gimmicks in favor of singing from the heart in front of an instrumental band.

Kesha's album Rainbow will be released on 11 August.

"We did away with numerous big pop gimmicks: no dancers, no screens, no backing vocalists, no backing tracks - it was just my band and I letting it all out onstage", she writes in a new essay.

"With Woman, I hope my fans will hear that wild spirit still strong inside me but this time it was created more raw, spontaneously and with all live instrumentation, which I found was a huge reason I loved the records I did love... I Feel Like a Woman".

"I just really f*cking love being a woman and I wanted an anthem for anyone else who wants to yell about being self-sufficient and strong", she writes about "Woman". "That day was one of the best writing sessions of my life".

To me, the thing I'm most proud of is that the song and video never lost the pure joy from the day it was birthed. "In the past, I've always felt like I was trying to prove something, trying to be someone I thought people wanted me to be, but on this record, I'm just telling the truth about my life".

"She's channeled so many experiences into just some of the most honest and powerful songs that I've ever been a part of", he said. "It was one of those days I'll remember forever". Today, she's got another video, for another of the album's singles.
