Apple's Back-To-School Promo Offers Free Beats With MacBook

The company will comp a pair of Beats Solo3, Powerbeats3 or BeatsX headphones for students (or teachers) who pick up an iMac, Mac Pro or any of the various flavors of MacBook.

Apple has launched a new promotion which will see it handing out free Beats headphones with each eligible Mac or iPad purchase made by educators and students. That means Beats X buds will be free, but you'll need to pony up an extra $50 to get a pair of Powerbeats3 earphones or $150 for a pair of Solo3 cans. Considering you're getting $200 headphones with that purchase, it's a pretty nice deal altogether.

These back-to-school deals are available at Apple retail stores, Cupertino's Online Store for Education, authorized campus stores, and via 1-800-MY-APPLE.

Employees of K-12 and higher education institutions qualify for the discount, as do college students who can verify their enrollment.

Unfortunately, the iPad Pro student discount is only $20, but a MacBook can have $300 shaven off its price, so that becomes a fair deal.

More information about this can be found on Apple's website.

Unfortunately it looks like Apple's iPhone models will not be part of this back-to-school promotion, so if you were hoping to score some free headphones, you'd be out of luck (save for the ones bundled with the handset). The Apple Music monthly subscription is being taken down to $5 a month, too.
