First Alert 5 Forecast: More Storms With Heavy Rain

The big weather story is a cold front working its way through the area bringing cooler temperatures and also scattered showers and storms to end the week.

Morning showers, then breaks of sun today with the chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm later.

Clouds will likely be stubborn on Saturday, but we start an improvement that continues through Sunday, with summer warmth and humidity returning Sunday through most of next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day. Storms crawling over the high country and onto the interstate will periodically drop heavy rain with lots of lightning as they move east into the plains. Winds SW/NE 5-10 miles per hour. Heavy rain could lead to more flooding as well and small hail is a possibility.

SUNDAY: Skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the lower 80s. Winds NE around 5 miles per hour. Highs will reach the upper 80s. Heat indices will snap into the 100 to 105 range daily between 11am and 7pm. Sunny and hot tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s and 90s. Most of us will be left with starry skies and lows in the 60s.

The emerging pattern will keep temps closer to normal for a few days and will produce better chances of showers and storms.
