Palestinian shot dead by Israeli army in Jenin clashes: medics

IDF forces shot and killed two terrorists during a gunfight in the Palestinian city of Jenin early Wednesday morning.

According to the army, 21 Palestinians were detained across the West Bank for stone throwing and violent protests.

The Palestinian health ministry confirmed that two Palestinians were killed and a third was wounded in the leg.

Mohammed Sadee, who lives in the camp, said he witnessed one of the Palestinians being shot.

At least one Palestinian was reportedly detained by Israeli forces in Tulkarm, northwest of the West Bank. In the latest incident, the military said the soldiers opened fire in response to an "immediate threat" posed by the man.

The first Palestinian, named locally as Sa'ad Salah, died immediately.

The Israeli forces claimed that the soldiers opened fire at "two attackers" after "Palestinian armed persons opened fire at them and threw explosive devices at the forces stationed in the camp".

Clashes broke out as the Israeli army raided Jenin refugee camp in the north of the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces often carry out searches in the West Bank for suspected militants and weapons manufacturing facilities. "They shot him. and he fell to the ground", he said.

Israeli authorities arrested 388 Palestinians from different parts of occupied Palestine during June, including 70 children and six women, a report issued by a number of Palestinian organisations revealed yesterday.
