'Mamma Mia' sequel casts 'Baby Driver's Lily James

James, who sang "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" for 2015's Cinderella, will play the role of "Young Donna".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lily James will be featuring in Universal's sequel to Mama Mia.

She can now be seen in cinemas in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver, alongside Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx.

The British actress, rising star and recent Baby Driver actress Lily James seems to be taking the world by storm one epic movie at a time, because now she's landed herself a role in the sequel to the hit musical, Mamma Mia! Stars from the original movie, including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Christine Baranski and Colin Firth will be returning for the sequel. Like the original stage musical, Mamma Mia was entirely scored by the hit songs of ABBA.

Littlestar's Judy Craymer and Playtone's Gary Goetzman will produce.

USA movie news website The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news of the British actress's casting, stating that she had signed on to appear in the Universal film. Craymer created and produced the stage show.

Both Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus will act as executive producers.

The follow-up film, titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, is due for release on Friday 20 July 2018.

Ol Parker is set to direct and write the upcoming Mamma Mia! sequel. Universal's Senior Vice President of production Kristen Lowe and Creative Executive Lexi Barta will oversee production for the studio.
