Michelle Obama Made A Stunning Return To The Spotlight Last Night

Her son and the chairman of the Special Olympics Timothy Shriver accepted the award from Obama. "A woman who believed everyone has something to contribute and everyone deserves to push themselves to find out what they're made of and to compete and win", Michelle said, while honoring Shriver. "Through her passionate service she made the world more welcoming", Obama said, notes The Post. No necklace needed! MObama accessorized with chunky Jennifer Fisher earrings and rings, according to Women's Wear Daily, and she continues to work with her DC dream team including stylist Meredith Koop, makeup artist Carl Ray, and hairstylist Yene Damtew.

Obama received a huge round of applause from the athletes and other stars in attendance, so much so she had a wait on stage before detailing why she was there in the first place. She added that Shriver's visionary idea has turned into a global movement.

In 2009, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of President John F. Kennedy, died of a stroke.

Since then, Special Olympics has morphed into the world's biggest sports organizations for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. More than 5.3 million athletes participate in Special Olympics events yearly.

"Once a first lady, still a great first lady", he says.

"I am here tonight to honour a remarkable woman", she said. The eldest of the Kennedy siblings, Rosemary, had an intellectual disability, which played a role in inspiring Shriver's work in providing sporting opportunities for people with disabilities.

Shriver passed in 2009, but she has always been recognized as a major force in unifying the world and promoting inclusion.
