Facebook Introduces GIF Maker on iOS

GIFs created through this feature are short, and only last a few seconds. The feature is available at the tap of a button at the top of the screen.

The social media is giving its users to express themselves more innovatively through GIFs, complete with Facebook's filters on them.

In June Facebook added the option to reply to comments with a GIF. Reports say that it has started testing another GIF creator in the camera highlight of the smartphone app.

This feature is now only available to a small set of test users but it is believed that it will roll out to the public soon.

Facebook has been slow in adapting to GIF, fearing that it might get cluttered because of the visual impact it would have on the auto-playing videos on the News Feed. But Facebook users love to use meme - GIF and meme go hand in hand - and users kept finding workarounds to post GIFs.

If you are a fan of the GIF format, then the headline must have excited you. GIFs can also be combined with existing effects available in the Facebook camera. As you can probably imagine, GIFs are very popular on the internet, so it's never surprising when an online service incorporates them into its product.

The GIF option wasn't there on my Android phone and on my friend's iPhone running the latest version of Facebook.
