Syrian refugees name their son Justin Trudeau in honour of Canadian PM

Mr Trudeau was seen cradling two-month-old Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal as he spoke to the baby's parents at an annual rodeo event in the Canadian city of Calgary on Saturday.

His parents Afraa and Muhammad Bilan came to the country as refugees via Lebanon from war-ravaged Damascus with their two older children a year ago. While Syrian children are generally named after their grandparents, the refugee couple chose to name their boy after the prime minister to showing gratitude that the country has accepted them.

Although photos of the charming encounter show Prime Minister Trudeau happily snuggling his young namesake, baby Justin Trudeau seemed a bit less impressed with the meeting. He was born on May 4.

'It was actually very good, it was awesome.

The family fled Syria six years ago, and arrived in Canada last February.

Just over 40,000 Syrian refugees have been resettled in Canada since Mr Trudeau took office in November 2015.

"He helped a lot of refugees". However, the government came under further criticisms for not providing enough services. "He held (the baby) and he said, 'This is Justin-Trudeau, ' and then he says, 'I appreciate that you named him after my name", she said further.

The country had increased funding for language training for the refugees across the country, Canada's minister for immigration, refugees and citizenship John McCallum said past year.
