This game allows players become their favorite Marvel heroes in virtual reality

Marvel Games made it clear back in May that they have plans to release major VR titles in the near future, and the studio didn't disappoint. Suddenly, heroes from across the Marvel Universe are hurled together in a chaotic, interdimensional conflict spanning past, present, and alternate futures to fight to reclaim the Cosmic Cube and restore order to the universe.

That's right. This game lets you punch and blast things as the Carol Danvers incarnation of Captain Marvel. Stay tuned to powersunitedvr.com for more reveals in the months leading up to launch.

Powers United VR is Marvel Games' first big Virtual Reality project, announced a few hours ago during the Level Up! If the game picks up, we would not be surprised to see Disney jumping onto the Marvel VR Universe, supplementing Marvel TV Universe and Marvel Cinematic Universe.

More characters for the game will be announced by Disney next week at San Diego Comic-Con. Folks are already tentatively interested in Powers United pending Spider-Man's inclusion, but I'm not so sure it'll happen.

It's hard to tell exactly how good the game looks just from the trailer, but the renderings of the three characters look "just good enough" compared to some of the top-tier VR games now on the market. More than a dozen characters are expected to be playable, so we can expect many more to come soon, though these four are the only ones that the game's site has listed at this time.

Marvel Powers United VR is bring slated for a 2018 release.
