Barcelona don't fear Sergi Roberto move amid Utd, Chelsea links

Since joining Barcelona in 2010, Sergi Roberto has become one of the key components for Barcelona, showing versatility in being able to play multiple positions at the midfield or backline.

Elsewhere, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo (h/t the Daily Star's James Walters) reported United recently offered €40 million (£36 million) for Barca utility man Roberto but have since seen the bid turned down. Luis Enrique was in dire need of a right-back since the departure of Dani Alves, especially with Aleix Vidal failing to impress the manager.

However, Barcelona has made it clear that Sergi Roberto is not for sale and has rejected the offer from Manchester United. Despite last year's Europa League victory the club slumped to a sixth place finish and looked bereft of ideas across the Premier League season.

Callum Bunce of Ladbrokes said: "Roberto's versatile playing in both defence and midfield, and the odds suggest he could be the creative spark that was missed in Jose's first season".

The Barcelona defender is already liked by Manchester United and Chelsea, and will down in history for scoring the winning goal in the Blaugrana's incredible comeback against PSG, beating them 6-1 in Champions League action.

Barcelona have been scouring for a midfielder throughout the summer and Valverde believes Roberto has the same profile as Paulinho - the player they have been rumoured to be interested in. The club has declared Roberto a non-transferable player and rejected the bid.
