Kesha Peforms "Praying" on 'Good Morning America'

Pop singer Kesha gave a moving performance of her new single "Praying" on "Good Morning America" Wednesday (which you can view above).

For the previous year, as the cases wound slowly through the system, Kesha and companies closely affiliated with Dr. Luke have worked together on completing Rainbow.

The opening track is literally a "don't let the bastards get you down" acoustic track, in which she sings "I could fight forever, but life's too short" - a statement of where she's at, and what this album is. I've written every song on this album and they're all so personal.

It's been five years and one long legal battle since Kesha has released an album.

The singer, 30, became choked up as she spoke about life after her highly-publicized courtroom battle with former CEO of Kemosabe Records Lukasz Gottwald, who she accused of sexually assaulting her and blocking her from releasing music. "I hope you guys like it and I hope you can hear it, and I hope it helps people". Now my house is covered in rainbows, and my life and my body - I have like 10 rainbow tattoos.

"It was a collaborative process, just like the making of a typical album", said Christine Lepera, a lawyer for the producer, adding, "Everything proceeded with the full support of Luke". She asked Kesha's representatives-no dice.

Kesha was also scheduled to perform a new song called Prayer, telling the audience, "If I can make it through this song, I'm going to be singing it".

Is Kesha barred from mentioning Dr. Luke?

"It's so personal", she told co-anchor Robin Roberts, while fighting back tears.

Dr. Luke's allegations against Kesha, which include breach-of-contract claims and two claims for defamation, are still in the early phases of fact discovery, expert discovery and depositions, with a trial unlikely until 2018.

Despite its challenges, Kesha said making her followup to 2012's Warrior helped her cope with her pain.

Who else broke down when Kesha opened up about the meaning of Praying on GMA? If you haven't been following along, the singer sued Dr. Luke for multiple offenses, including emotional distress and employment discrimination.
