The occupancy in the theaters on the first day for the film has recorded 70 percent which is considered as the good start. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is an ironic take on a struggle against the age-old practice of public defecation.

As Per Reports Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, which was released in around 3,000 screens in the domestic market, has witnessed a decent amount of footfalls in theatres in the first show. The film released in 3000 screens across India and in 590 screens overseas. Film is Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is set on the backdrop of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

While most of the films starring superstars that released recently were criticised and failed at the box-office whether it be SRK's "Jab Harry Met Sejal" or Salman Khan's "Tubelight". "No woman should fear going to the toilet!". The film is a remake of award winning Tamil movie "Joker" which was released in 2016. It minted over Rs. 13 crore on its opening day. Akshay and Bhumi's performance is fantastic but the movie is too long and preachy. According to Taran Adarsh, Saturday and Sunday look better for Toilet and collections will get big boost on Tuesday i.e. Independence Day.

The movie revolves around a small town newly Wednesday couple Akshay (Keshav) and Bhumi Pednekar (Jaya) and how problems prevail in their married life after Jaya, leaves her husband when she discovers that there is no toilet in the house.
