Duluth FD: Father, Daughter Pulled From Lake Superior

Fuglie's other daughter alerted authorities after her father and sister disappeared while swimming off of Park Point Beach late Thursday afternoon. Two searchers were knocked out of their boat at one point.

The Duluth Fire Department said both were given CPR and taken to the hospital.

Around 4:20 p.m., crews responded to a water emergency near the Park Point Beach House. The two victims were reported deceased just before 10:30 p.m., according to a release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

It continues through tomorrow morning, the fire department said.

Authorities today said they believe a rip current claimed the lives of Ryan Paul Fuglie, 38, of Wisconsin, and his 10-year-old daughter, Lily Elizabeth Fuglie, who had been swimming off a beach in Duluth, Minn, according to news station KARE.

The Duluth Fire Department says the rescue effort was hampered by large waves.

A Duluth firefighter was injured when he took in a large amount of water during the rescue effort.

The sheriff's office says a 12-year-old girl flagged someone down to call police after she lost sight of the two swimmers, adding that they started struggling with the rip tide, and went under.

A rip current warning had been issued early Thursday that remains in effect till Friday.
