Pall of gloom descends on death of IAS officer

His head and torso were found separated on the railway tracks almost a kilometre from the Ghaziabad junction at Kotgaon railway crossing around 8.40pm by a government railway police (GRP) patrol team.

A note was also found on him with mention of a “detailed suicide note” in his bag at a hotel room.

He had joined as the DM of Buxar only on August 3 last.

Delhi Police sources said that from the preliminary investigation, it was learnt that Pandey was reportedly facing dispute at home. A police team was immediately rushed to the mall but it could not trace him.

He also wrote in his suicide note that he was committing suicide by jumping off the 10th-floor building in district center of Janakpuri. I am committing suicide of my own volition. "I am sorry. I love you all! pleas forgive me!" "I am frustrated with life and don't think that we humans are contributing anything..." From here, Mukesh had sent a white space message to some knowledgeable person from his phone, in which Mukesh had written about going for suicide. First of all, it was reported to Delhi Police. On the other hand, Mukesh's family was also upset after getting WhatsApp messages.

Pandey had checked into the posh Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi during the day on Thursday.

Mukesh Pandey was made a DM of Buxar a week ago. "However, we are yet to receive any formal complaint into the incident", said Randhir Singh, circle officer, GRP, Ghaziabad.

The Delhi Police were thrown into a tizzy on Thursday when they were informed that an IAS officer from Bihar had gone missing in the city and that he planned to end his life.

Prior to Buxar, Pandey had worked in Begusarai's Ballia sub-division as an SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) and in Katihar as a DDC.

The IAS Officers Association have organised a condolence meeting, at the IAS Bhawan in Patna and the Bihar Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday evening. In a few years of marriage, the relationship of both of them was very sour.
